Error E13: This error indicates that your ink cartridges may have ran out of ink.  To troubleshoot, replace the empty ink cartridges with a new one.

Error E16: When your ink cartridges get empty, this error appears. Replace cartridges & close the paper output cover.

Error U162 & U163: With this error, your Printer is warning you to replace empty cartridges. If the error again display after inserting a new ink cartridge, you should press and hold down the STOP/RESET/RESUME button for 10 seconds and then print as normal.

Error 1686 & 1688: The ink in your cartridges has ran out. Replace the empty ink cartridges.

Error E04: This error may spoil your mood when FINE cartridge used in your printer has not been installed incorrectly. To remove these cartridges you need to retract the output tray extension before opening the cover. After that, re-install them by pushing them in until it clicks into place. Close the cover and try to print.

Error E05: This error code may cause an orange light on your machine to blink 5 times and is caused by the print head not being installed at all or it may have been installed incorrectly.

Error E14: With this error, an orange light may blink 14 times. The code relates to the ink cartridge not being supported by the printer and this may be as a result of the ink tank being sold in a different region to where the printer was originally bought.

Error E15: This error displays when the ink cartridge isn’t recognized. This can be solved by lifting the cover of the printer and ensuring the ink cartridge is inserted.

Error 1486 & 1487: This usually refers to ink cartridges being installed in the wrong position and a simple check of the cartridge codes and re-installation should resolve this.

Error E07, U075 & U076: This error occurred due to FINE tri coloured cartridge used in your Canon printer. If it is installed incorrectly, this error message may appear. Remove the cartridge and place it correctly.

Error B200: This error code refers to a service error that can occur due to a hardware failure with either the printer or the print head. To resolve this:

  • Turn off the printer
  • Disconnect the power cable
  • Open the printer cover
  • Check for any orange protective tape or white polystyrene and remove if necessary
  • Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer (such as a paper clip) and remove if necessary,
  • Close the cover, Reconnect and turn on.

Error 5011: This printer error can be resolved by turning the printer off and unplugging it before plugging it back in.

Error 306: Refers to occasions when you’re looking to print from a Mac. A solution for this issue is to: Click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen. Click System Preferences. Click Print & Fax. If the padlock in the bottom left is locked: Click it, enter your password and click OK. Click the – button. to remove the printer and the + to add it again leaving the options on default.

Error 5100, 5200, 5400, 5700 & 6000: A service error has occurred. Turn off the printer and follow the steps:

  • Disconnect the power cable
  • Open the printer cover
  • Check for any orange protective tape or white polystyrene and remove if necessary
  • Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer (such as a paper clip) and remove if necessary
  • Close the cover
  • Reconnect and turn on

Error 1682 & 1684: Your printer is having trouble recognising the cartridge(s). This happens when gold contact area of the cartridge encounter sudden problem. Remove the cartridge and make sure there is no dirt/ink obscuring the gold contact area. Reinstall the cartridge and attempt to print once again.
